Chapter 15: Why are you out there?

Our warm lips met again. I could feel the heat as I breathed in and out.

Without realizing it, I focused all my senses on this softness.

This kiss was a little different from the one at the wedding he had pushed intensely as if he was trying to quench all the thirst he had endured so far.

Livanfell was not in a rush. The sweet nectar he had dug in carefully spread throughout my body.

I wasn’t surprised. He did it so warmly and slowly.

His heat warmed me.

‘A little bit more…’

Unknowingly, I stretched out my hands and wrapped my arms around Livanfell’s neck, pulling him closer.

It was an indescribable addiction.

The moment I clung to him as if longing for a desire that couldn’t be satisfied…

Mph…!” Suddenly, I felt a lot of strength leave my body. It was the first time I had gone through that and it surprised me. When I lost my strength, my body staggered as I lost my balanced.

When I opened my eyes, startled, I could see Livanfell’s face, who looked just as flustered as I was, right in front of me.

Livanfell, who was turning gray.

“…!”

Then, I saw all of Livanfell’s hair turn white.

“Terriella!”

I lost all strength in my legs and collapsed into my seat with my knees bent.

Rivanpel removed his lips and quickly grabbed me. I almost clung to his hand as I blinked my eyes in surprise.

“Are you okay?”

“I lost my strength suddenly…”

After a while, the strength came back to my body. Even when I stood up with my feet on the ground, Livanfell still looked surprised.

“…I think I’m fine now.”

Did I lose my strength because I wasn’t used to a strong kiss? Embarrassed, I buried my face in my palms.

Livanfell lightly picked me up and carefully placed me on the bed.

“You might be feeling unwell, so you better call a doctor.”

“No!” I swayed quickly and grabbed the hem of his clothes. Livanfell’s eyes shone brightly as he turned his head.

‘…Huh?’

And even though I hadn’t poured divine power into him yet, Livanfell’s hair turned black again.

‘What happened?’

Did I unknowingly infuse divine power during the kiss? I had no memory of it.

Because while we were kissing, my mind went black, and I couldn’t remember anything else!

‘What have I done?’

I took a deep breath and ran my palms over my reddened cheeks. The impulsive, thoughtless action made me dizzy.

I slightly averted my gaze, but my head was still full of Livanfell.

“…Are you really not a siren?”

“What?”

“Suddenly, I went out of my mind… No. Sorry. I was talking nonsense.”

Fortunately, Livanfell’s stiff face softened slightly at my complaint. Laughing, he laid me down on the bed and wiped my forehead.

“A siren seduces people with a beautiful song, don’t they?”

“Pretend you didn’t hear anything. I guess I’m out of my mind right now.”

Livanfell rested his chin on his hand and laughed as he swept my forehead with the other. A pleasant smile spread on his face.

“Did I seduce you?”

“…What nonsense… Ha.”

You kissed me because you were tempted. This isn’t even the wedding.

“So be careful in the future,” Livanfell muttered as he preciously stroked my hair. “Or you never know when I’ll seduce you again.”

The hand brushing my forehead as he spoke in a low voice was perfectly soft. It was the first time someone cared and worried about me like this.

When I saw the face of someone worried about me for the first time, I was swept away by the atmosphere and asked, “…Why did you kiss me?”

“I was seduced, too,” Livanfell responded immediately without even thinking about it. “What about the empress? Why did you respond to the kiss?”

“…”

I don’t know. No answer came to mind.

I slowly turned my head to hide my blushing face. Then Livanfell let out a big laugh full of happiness.

“I see you don’t have an answer now. I’ll wait for it, so think comfortably before you do.”

“…Okay.”

“Stop thinking about it today and rest.”

Feeling like a baby, I pressed my lips together and closed my eyes. Strangely, I felt at ease.

Click–.

After closing the bedroom door, Livanfell couldn’t walk more than a few steps and slumped down like a paper doll.

Haa,” he sighed as he swept back his hair. Despite pretending to be calm, his face was still red with residual heat.

He couldn’t believe he had just been holding Terriella’s waist tightly with his own hands.

Livanfell tightly clenched his fists and closed his eyes, afraid that his senses might somehow escape. Read only at Novel Endeavors. He wanted to feel that beautiful moment again.

That scent. That body temperature. That feeling.

Even the breath she exhaled and the small voice that jumped out of her in surprise.

He wanted to devour and possess every single thing.

However, a voice interrupted that brilliant moment.

“…Your Majesty?”

Livanfell, interrupted by his thrilling recollection, raised his buried head and frowned.

It was Jaerim, who had worked until late in the evening on behalf of the emperor.

“…No. Why are you looking at me like you’re going to kill me?”

“Jaerim, you’re so talented, but you’re not that sensible.”

“I’m already competent, now you want me to be sensible? If I were competent and sensible, you wouldn’t be able to hire me with this salary.” Jaerim shook the stack of papers he was holding, lightly refuting Livanfell’s words. “If you’re not spending the night with the empress, how about spending it with me?”

“…I refuse because you didn’t want to spend the night with me last time.”

“No. I hated the bedroom, not the nights spent with Your Majesty. Any night spent with Your Majesty in the office is always welcome.”

Jaerim smiled broadly, took out half the stack of documents, and handed it to Livanfell.

When he saw the happiness on Jaerim’s face when he realized he could sleep after finishing today’s work, Livanfell couldn’t refuse anymore.

“…But what are you really doing here?”

“I’m reflecting on myself for not being patient.”

“To say you’re reflecting is a bit… You were smiling.”

“You saw me again?”

“What can I do if I can see you from a distance? Your Majesty’s features are so distinct that anyone can clearly see you from afar.”

“Thank you for the compliment, Jaerim.”

“Don’t change the subject.”

Livanfell brushed off his pants and stood up. Jaerim stared at him, then at the empress’s bedroom behind him.

“Could it be…”

“Jaerim, what’s with that unscrupulous look? Please explain why you’re looking at me with such a disrespectful glance.”

“You were worried about the first night earlier… Perhaps the empress said she didn’t like it but was forced to…”

“What do you take me for?”

“An emperor with no patience.”

But that’s not to say he’s completely wrong. Livanfell only clicked his tongue awkwardly.

“…What is it? Why aren’t you denying that?”

“Jaerim, you’re only quick-witted when you don’t need to be.”

“Didn’t you just say earlier that I wasn’t? Look at this, Lord Semula. I work under persecution under such a two-faced master.”

“Stop it, Jaerim.”

At Livanfell’s scolding, Jaerim stopped joking around and followed him as he walked toward the office.

“She’s not running away. Don’t mess with it and take things slowly.”

“She will.”

“You’re married. Where would she run off to?”

“…I know.”

Livanfell smiled bitterly at the advice of Jaerim, who had no way of knowing about the contract marriage and Livanfell’s situation.

“Of course, it would be nice if you two get along well and give birth to a successor since the empire’s future will be bright.”

“You just told me to go slowly.”

“Slowly then quickly, don’t you know that tactic? Hot and cold. Dangerous and safe.”

“…Do you think that will work? If I look at the cute face that reminds me of a little rabbit, my reason will have already flown over the distant horizon.”

Jaerim stared coldly at Livanfell, who had already started bragging about his wife.

“Do you know how beautiful it is when her green eyes filled with the energy of life shine? When her pink hair flutters in the wind, no one realizes it’s like an illusion of petals falling. Because no one sees this up close!”

“… No. Even looking at it up close, only Your Majesty thinks of the empress that way.”

“It’s a miracle just that those little hands and feet can move, but if she does run sometimes…”

“In a little while, there will be a part for the empress just because she’s breathing.”

“How can I stand that? Haa,” Livanfell sighed.

He tried to be content with just looking at her, but he held her hand in the end. He tried to be satisfied with the hand he held, but he couldn’t stand it and kissed her.

He feared that he didn’t know how far this desire would lead.

“If the empress looks like a little rabbit, think of it as hunting.”

“…Hunting? Hunt my wife now? Jaerim.”

“No. It’s a misunderstanding, so put down that sword, Your Majesty.” Jaerim shook his head in disgust. “Set a trap and lure the prey. If you chase after her to catch her, you will only lose your strength, and the prey will run away in fear.”

“…Trap and lure?”

“You have to go slowly so she can feel safe. And the moment she lets her guard down… After that, do as you wish.”

Jaerim turned to his papers as he saw Livanfell in agony.

‘Of course, His Majesty’s way of hunting a rabbit that runs away is to chase it until the end, drive it to the corner, and then catch it.’

Jaerim suddenly remembered what Livanfell had said earlier and stopped handing over the documents.

Eyes filled with the energy of life and hair that flutters like flower petals.

Strangely, even Jaerim, who didn’t like people, felt better when he faced Her Majesty, Terriella.

He told Teriella that he had recommended Marquis Liranev for the emperor, but in fact, it was also for her safety.

The more power she had next to her, the greater her position as the empress in this empire.

Enough to eat the emperor’s place.

‘…I’m worrying for nothing.’

Jaerim slowly shook his head.

However, he had already prepared a countermeasure for various situations in his head.

“…He said he’d come back soon. Mu, you’re a liar.”

I haven’t seen Mu for days.

The hamster bed and the gold treadmill I had commissioned arrived. But its owner wasn’t there to see it.

‘Perhaps, he didn’t return because I don’t have enough jewels?’

I glanced at the empty hamster house. Even though it already shone so brightly, it seemed insufficient to be a vessel for god.

“Your Majesty, it’s time to depart,” the newly appointed maid, Phoebe, the only daughter of Viscount Leia, called me.

Today was the day of the sacred ceremony held at the great temple. The high priest, who had been away for a long time, had returned, so it was a day to pray with hope to god to end the destruction.

As the emperor and empress of the great empire, Livanfell and I naturally had to attend the ceremony.

Phoebe and I made our way to the prepared carriage.

“Phoebe, could you borrow a book about Lord Semula from the imperial library later and put it in the bedroom?”

After reading and studying what Semula liked, I should decorate the hamster house.

If I decorate it with things you like, you’ll come back. It might also move your heart enough to make a new World Tree, so this world doesn’t perish.

‘By the way, can he even create a World Tree whenever he wants?’

I didn’t really know much about the World Tree since it’s under god’s domain.

“Empress.”

When I headed to the carriage, Livanfell was already waiting for me.

As soon as I saw his face, I almost remembered our kiss a few days ago, but I shook my head to shake it off.

‘Disappear! Forget it!’

It was my first time taking over the vacant post of empress since we got married, so I was a little nervous. I took a calming breath to ease my trembling and climbed into the imperial carriage after Livanfell escorted me.

After getting on the carriage with Livanfell, we headed to the great temple with the knights.

“Are you nervous?”

“Of course. It’s my first event as empress, but it’s at the great temple.”

“It’s the day of the ceremony, so Elihu won’t have time to pay attention to the empress. There’s no need to worry. And we just have to stay in our pre-arranged positions, so there’s nothing to be nervous about.”

“That would be nice.”

“Since the higher-ranking priests left for their volunteer service a few days ago, only lower and apprentice priests are left except for two high-ranking priests. Maybe Elihu is busy and doesn’t have time to pay attention to us.”

“Really?”

“Don’t worry. I’m with you.”

I took a deep breath and tried to keep my composure.

Meanwhile, the carriage arrived before I knew it. I took Livanfell’s hand, and we exited the carriage together.

Elihu, low-ranking priests, and apprentice priests were lined up in front of the great temple.

“Greetings, Your Majesties, the emperor and empress.”

Elihu was… smiling at us, especially at me.

‘I already want to run away.’

It was then that I shifted my gaze upwards to avoid Elihu’s eyes.

‘…Huh?’

Above Elihu’s head, I saw something very familiar.

Squeak squeak! Squeak! (Hurry up, kid! You’re late!)”

Above Elihu’s head, the hamster, Mu, was waving at me gladly.

‘Why are you out there…?’
